For this month’s editorial I’m providing a link to a very interesting video with sound depicting Montipora polyps at dawn. For those of you that don’t recognize the music, it is a jazzed up version of Richard Strauss’ Also Sprach Zarathustra (This speaks Zarathustra). This is the beginning of the Richard Strauss tone poem, which incidentally was used in the famous film directed by Stanley Kubrick, 2001. The section of the tone poem used in both depicts the sunrise. I hope you enjoy it.
The first two minutes of my short film about living coral polyps of the species Montipora. Shot entirely in time-lapse at high magnification. The full film is nine minutes long. Music: “Also Sprach Zarathustra” arrangement and adaptation by Eumir Deodato
