Don’t Drill Tempered Glass!

by | Jun 17, 2011 | DIY, Funny | 6 comments

I’ve always wondered what happens when someone tries to drill tempered glass, and much to my surprise I found out first hand when a customer asked for a tank to be drilled that was, unknown to us, tempered.

The moral of this story, don’t drill tempered glass!!!

Were you using cold water to do the drill? I can´t see it from the video.

Yes, but it doesn’t matter with tempered glass. With tempered glass, you’re done before you even start.

I’ve accidently drilled tempered glass and it never goes well. Some pop before others do but I have to see one not explode on me. The first time was just scary though.

Yeah, there’s no way to drill tempered glass. I remember seeing a youtube video where a guy checked if his bottom panel is tempered glass using a laptop screen method.

I tried that method once and couldn’t get it to work.

Try putting on a pair of polarized sunglasses. It never fails to spot tempered glass for me.
