There have been reports of the annual fish kills or mass beachings on the coast of California.  These are seasonal events that cause a large number of animals to end up on the shore somewhere.  It is not known whether these events are due to human activities or are simply a pack of animals that lose their navigation skills because of something like changes in the phase of the moon, etc.  This picture was taken a few weeks ago and shows the sheer size of some of the Humboldt squid in the area.  For more photos, check out the LINK.
