Here is a sneak peak into the long anticipated arrival of Miamis new 500,000 gallon aquarium at the Miami Science Museum. This new aquarium will be so unique because of its design, which allows it to be open to the air, and will be cone shaped, sort of like an ice cream cone. It will be the centerpiece of the museum. Watch this awesome time lapse video of the crews working 24 hours a day to pour the concrete for the tank.
Frost Science Gulf Stream Tank Concrete Pour Time Lapse V1
Crews worked non-stop for 24 hours, 48 minutes and 59 straight seconds, to place over 1,200 cubic yards (120 trucks) of concrete, making up more than 9,000 square feet of tank surface area, filling the walls of the massive cone-shaped Gulf Stream tank aquarium and marking the Patricia and Phillip Frost Museum of Science’s biggest milestone in construction to date.
This aquariums shape will make it one of a kind in the World. I’m very happy this will be opening right here in Miami, Florida. This awesome museum is set to open in Summer of 2016 and I think I will start counting down now.
