Driving around the island yesterday I see they are removing topsoil here at an alarming rate (can you say Caribbean Dust Bowl) in order to build more houses, I have to take a photo and send it to you because you\u00a0have to see it to believe it! Folks here wonder why it\u2019s so dry? Well, one reason is they are removing all the old beautiful trees as fast as they can and removing all the natural environment, I really feel sorry for the next generation that will have to deal with all these major irreversible mistakes."},{"@type":"Article","@id":"https://reefs.com/2016/04/16/caribbean-reef-squid-sepioteuthis-sepiodea/#article","isPartOf":{"@id":"https://reefs.com/2016/04/16/caribbean-reef-squid-sepioteuthis-sepiodea/#webpage"},"author":{"@id":"https://reefs.com/author/Barry-Brown/#author","name":"Barry Brown"},"publisher":{"@id":"https://reefs.com/#organization"},"headline":"Caribbean Reef Squid, Sepioteuthis sepiodea","datePublished":"2016-04-16T13:00:09+00:00","dateModified":"2016-04-16T19:29:23+00:00","commentCount":0,"mainEntityOfPage":"https://reefs.com/2016/04/16/caribbean-reef-squid-sepioteuthis-sepiodea/#webpage","image":{"@id":"https://reefs.com/2016/04/16/caribbean-reef-squid-sepioteuthis-sepiodea/#primaryimage"},"articleSection":"Reef,Science"},{"@type":"Person","@id":"https://reefs.com/author/Barry-Brown/#author","name":"Barry Brown","image":{"@type":"ImageObject","@id":"https://reefs.com/#personlogo","url":"https://cdn.reefs.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/reefs-com-100x100.png","caption":"Barry Brown"},"sameAs":[]}]}

Good morning, not much at all going on today, the winds are down and it continues to be hot and dry with no rain in sight. I have a solitary Caribbean Reef Squid for you today, that I photographed during the day in around 40 feet of water. I tend to not have good luck getting close to squids during the day as there are so many predators out trying to eat them but at night our odds are much higher. MORE
