Fish eggs are the new hype food for aquarium fish and not without reason- freshly harvested from commercially caught fish, they are high in protein content and packed with Omega-3 Fatty acids. As a part of the natural diet of many reef dwelling creatures, fish eggs are excellent for finicky eaters and are often used as a transition food when weaning fish off live food.
San Francisco Bay decided to jump on the bandwagon and has just introduced fish eggs to their line of frozen food. Eggs are harvested from Capelin (Mallotus villosus), a small coldwater fish from the smelt family that is found in the northern waters of the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. San Francisco Bay only uses freshly harvested capelin eggs and sells them without any additives, preservatives, or dyes in 30-count cube packs totaling 3.5 oz (100g) in weight.
Fish eggs is an excellent food for all finicky eaters that does not cloud water like other frozen feeds tend to do. It’s also readily accepted by large mouth LPS corals and anemones (my tube anemones love this stuff).
