Melanorivulus britzkei is a new Brazilian killifish


Melanorivulus britzkei sp nov.

Melanorivulus britzkei is distinguished from other congenors with its metallic yellow “lightning” patch found on its head as well as its white pelvic fin.

Odds are, M. britzkei is easy to breed in captivity, although like many killifish, they are likely short-lived.  Melanorivulus are also known to be jumpers, so this new killifish may be a flight risk.

The new killifish is described in the latest issue of Aqua.
