MACNA 2017: Poma Labs and 9 new Captive Bred Angelfish!

by | Sep 2, 2017 | Fish, MACNA, Video | 3 comments

For this video, we met up with Dr. Matt Wittenrich of brand new company called Poma Labs. He, along with Nuri Fisher of Piscine Energetics, secretively but successfully captive bred 9 angelfish and unveiled them at MACNA. Yes, you read that right. Not one but 9. 9!! All of them were significant but something special caught my eye. Conspicuous Angelfish!!  This amazing little batch of fish had the whole show buzzing from the get go. We had to drop everything and film this incredible accomplishment. Check it out!

I’m really interested in getting a captive bred Singapore Angel. I think captive bred is the future of our hobby. My concern is, will he revert to instinct and eat my reef tank?

it’s really hit or miss with these fish. however speaking to many experts in the hobby, once well fed, they tend to prefer the food that we provide. Ofcourse, there are always some odd balls.
