I’m a big fan of puns and corny jokes, and these free, downloadable Valentine’s Day cards make me very happy! The set is available on The Ocean Exploration Trust’s website, and include such gems as “you’re shrimply adorable” and “you octopi my heart”, while showcasing some cool, scientifically correct ocean creatures and exploration equipment.
These printables are a great way to start a conversation about our oceans, and they can be downloaded as cards to color and share, or as simple coloring pages. While on the site, take a minute to look around- there is a ton of interesting information, as well as entertaining videos and stories about the program itself and the adventures that the participating scientists have been on. The Valentines are free, but please consider making a small donation to this very worthy program!
from the website: “The Ocean Exploration Trust was founded in 2008 by Dr. Robert Ballard to engage in pure ocean exploration. Our international programs center on scientific exploration of the seafloor and many of our expeditions are launched from aboard Exploration Vessel (E/V) Nautilus, a 64-meter research vessel operated by the Ocean Exploration Trust. In addition to conducting scientific research, we offer our expeditions to explorers on shore via live video, audio, and data feeds from the field. We also bring educators and students of all ages aboard during E/V Nautilus expeditions, offering them hands-on experience in ocean exploration, research, and communications.”
Happy Valentine’s Day, everyone!
