DeJong MarineLife reef tank

When we talk about  DeJong MarineLife’s booth at Interzoo, words end quickly and leave room for pictures and video.

The booth was, as always, the best at Interzoo 2018, thanks to their stratospheric tank. No offense to our freshwater friends, for them there will always be the beautiful AquaFlora tanks, but the size, the majesty, and the quality of the wildlife inside were second to none.

DeJong MarineLife is above all a fish and coral wholesaler, one of the best in Europe, located in the Netherlands, and they never miss a chance to remind us of that. This year they shared the booth with AquaFlora, a Dutch company specialized in freshwater and aquascaping. In addition there were Philips, from the Netherlands too, that provided the lights for the tank, Vertex, and Apex, distributed in Europe by De Jong. We will talk about those last two in the next few days, since we have some interesting news.

The fish

From  Gramma dejongi to Zebrasoma gemmatum, and from Labridae to anthias, the tank seemed to contain everything. The display was very different than previous years, as there were not small tanks apart with special fish, and it was stunning.

Extremely natural scenes inhabited and enhanced by fish that looked completely comfortable.

The most fascinating thing was not just the beautiful fish themselves, but the perfect harmony between them and the underwater landscape.

Above we can appreciate the 12 Philips CoralCare ceiling lights, wihch replaced the 16 Lani ceiling lights of prevoious years.

Needless to say that people were always surrounding the fish tank.

The tank was visible from three sides, and the marine landscape with the Acroporas on the top was really spectacular. You can see it even better in the pictures and the video below.

The corals

It was difficult to choose the prettiest or the most colorful.

Scolymia

Maybe this  Scolymia?

Lobophyllia

Or the shades of this Lobophyllia? Of course the colors are not so bright… but what a coloring!!!

Trachyphyllia

Do you prefer this Trachyphyllia?

Acanthastrea

Lovers of this red Acanthastrea?

Acanthastrea

Do you prefer it green?

It’s difficult to choose… but you can see all of them in our slideshow.

Tridacnas

We take a quick break from the main tank to show you the tridacnas that were displayed in a second tank nearby.

Here too… which one to choose?

Finally, here it is our great video, completely in 4K. I think that watching it is worth a thousand words. Of course the color matching is not the same as the pictures, where we had a bigger sensor, and could adjust them one by one. Nevertheless we are proud of the result, and if you can watch it in 4K, we guarantee that your jaw will drop. We look forward to reading the comments of anyone who has the luck to try it!
