This device helped to save my tank during superstorm Sandy. I don't know for sure, but it probably helped out at other times too since it just clicks on when the power fluctuates.

I follow Parkers reef on You tube and he has some nice instructional video on making battery backup.
You can make one that will run necessities in tank for hours.
Or your full tank for days.
Let me post that video.
He made one for 3200 Australian that can run his full tank for week.

The amount of money we have in tanks it is wise to have a backup for tank only
Whole house if you like comfort.
