For this video, I wanted to share a quick update on the changes I’ve made since the last episode and how the system is responding so far.
I think we may have finally figured it out. The turf algae scrubber was simply working too well and stripping the water too aggressively. After speaking with Julian and taking his advice, I began dosing Sea Elements to replenish the trace elements the tank was clearly lacking. The turnaround was almost immediate, and the system started responding in a much healthier way.
With the scrubber already doing such a great job polishing the water, I decided to remove the GFO altogether for now. I also have to give a shoutout to the ATI Straton Pro 2 lights. These things are absolute beasts. The app may not be quite as polished as some of the other premium lighting systems out there, but it’s intuitive, reliable, and the performance has been outstanding.
The most exciting part has been watching the corals respond. The Montiporas are finally making a comeback and showing real growth again, which gave me the confidence to introduce my first three Acroporas into the tank. Not only have they colored up beautifully in this system, but they’re also beginning to grow.
Join me for this visual update of my ELOS Revival Part 3. Next up… more corals. I’ll also be heading to Aquashella this weekend, so if you’re attending, be sure to stop me and say hello.
Happy reefing.

Awesome update on Project ELOS! It’s super interesting how the scrubber was stripping the water too aggressively. Dosing Sea Elements to replenish trace elements sounds like a brilliant solution, and it’s great the system responded immediately. Removing the GFO is a smart move too. Sounds like you’ve finally figured it out!
