Finally a colorful blue edged chalice coral that maintains its blue edge pigmentation fairly easily in captivity. We have seen a couple of blue edges chalices imported in the past, but they tended to slowly loose their blue edge pigmentation in captivity. The Martian Midnight not only maintains a thick blue edge pigmentation, but the blue contrasts very well with the color of the corallites and main surface. New growth corallites tend to be solid bright pink, while older corallites are bright red orange. The surface of the coral also contains large bumps or tuberculae and these can have additional pigmentation on their outer surfaces.
