Schools REPRESENT at the FFM!

I attended the Frag Farmers Market on Saturday, my first event since before Covid, and it was fantastic! Hosting dozens and dozens of reef-related vendors (everything from adorable crocheted sea creatures to gorgeous SPS frags) in a high school of all places could be crazy chaotic, but Jon Swanson and his team had the ingenious idea to arrange the show to flow in a big circle, lining the halls with artists and organization and filling the dark classrooms with coral vendors. Without overhead lighting, the glowing tanks absolutely popped – colors were WAY brighter than you’d see in bright conference halls!

I have a few posts coming up about some of the artists that caught my eye, but first, I want to highlight the schools that came out to represent their reef clubs and programs. These young people are the future of our hobby, and I have to say, our future is in very good hands!

  • As senior editor here at reefs, I get to work with scientists from all over the world, and have made some wonderful friends in the industry! I also write for the site, and am the office manager at FRESH New London and the mother of two brilliant, talented young women.
