rich ross & ira flatow justin - reefsMACNA is right around the corner – are you ready?

Richard Ross (pictured here impressing NPR’s Ira Flatow with his tattoo) will be hosting Saturday night’s banquet, and will be giving a talk Friday on “The Difference Between Home and Public Aquaria”. Rich is a brilliant, entertaining speaker – in this interview with Ira on NPR’s “Science Friday”, he “describes some of the species’ unusual habits, including a method of hunting shrimp by tapping the prey on the back to surprise it”. You can listen to the broadcast here

There are so many great talks in this year’s lineup – the speaker sessions start at 10:00 am Friday morning and run through 4:00 pm Sunday afternoon, it’ll be a full weekend!

To help keep track of everything scheduled, the folks at MACNA 2015 have released a great free app; it has a meeting schedule, exhibitor listings, sponsor listings, speaker schedule, maps and more.

It’s shaping up to be quite an exciting weekend –  MACNA 2015’s host hotel, the Marriott Wardman Park, is completely sold out! There may be a few rooms left at the The Omni, a “luxurious, historic hotel” that is nearby. I recommend acting soon – you can book through their reservation site or call 1-800-THE-OMNI and ask for the “MACNA Conference” rate.
