Less is sometimes more

Water, that is. Who says a glass box needs to be completely filled with water? Paludariums (vivariums that incorporates both terrestrial and aquatic elements) can make for extremely beautiful and dynamic displays.

The complicated chemical relationships within coral communities are astonishing

A new research has discovered that at least one Fijian macroalgae can alter its physiology when it makes contact with SPS corals, an ability unknown to science until now. When placed next to Porites, this algae creates more toxins to kill the coral via chemical warfare. But the research doesn't end there. Scientists then discovered that as the macroalgae increased its chemical potency, it also attracted Naso tangs, which ate 80% more of it. The herbivores actually found the anti-coral compounds delicious! If you need more proof that tangs are good for SPS, here you go. The web of life is a marvelously complex machine!
