When you're a coral who lives on the sand, you must figure out how to avoid being buried alive. Using time-lapse photography, reseachers are uncovering the ways fungiid corals excavate themselves when buried as well as how they right themselves when upside down.

A new itty bitty reef goby

Lubricogobius nanus is a newly described species of uber tiny reef goby from Papua New Guinea. We're talking about adult length of approximately 1cm (1/2 inch), making L.nanus one of the smallest goby species.
