At MACNA 2016, a buzz was in the air about a revolutionary new product that claimed to provide realtime monitoring of Alkalinity. With Alkalinity being such a challenging component of a modern reef tank, this product has the potential to be a game changer for keepers of hard corals, specifically the SPS crowd who are always looking for ways to optimize growth. We searched out the source of the rumors and managed to get Craig Bingman to speak with the creator of the system, Jim Welsh. While this product is not currently available to the general public, we’ve heard rumors that this system will eventually be available from a large well known aquarium equipment company.
