Aquascape Contest! California Edition 2024.

by | Sep 25, 2024 | Contest | 2 comments

One thing I envy about our freshwater counterparts is the wide range of tools they have to create one-of-a-kind aquascapes that look mature right from the start.

In recent years, the saltwater side has been catching up. We’re now designing aquascapes that emphasize aesthetics, using techniques like the rule of thirds and negative space, while crafting bonsai-inspired structures that highlight coral placement and offer plenty of hiding spots for marine life. At Reef-A-Palooza California 2024, Marco Rock sponsored an impressive aquascape competition on both days of the exhibition, and we were there to capture it all.

Take a look and let us know what you thought of the competition and if you agree with the judges’ decision.

Enjoy!

It’s fascinating to see how the saltwater aquascaping community is evolving! The use of aesthetic techniques like the rule of thirds and negative space really elevates the contexto designs.
