I have degrees in biology and science education. I have done research on somatic embryogenesis. spectroscopy, and science education. I have taught science courses in high school and college for nearly 20 years. Fostering a love for science in others is my passion. I know that science hobbies are the most direct way to impact a person’s motivation to engage in science, so I use multiple modalities to engage with reefing hobbyists in an entertaining way. I also participate in some YouTube Series, such as Reef Receipts with Tidal Gardens and Seriously Salty Science with Reef Dudes where we discuss scientific literature and news that relates to the hobby, respectively.
