Meet Mr. Hot Wing.  This goldfish was born without a lower jawbone.  Without this bone, a fish can not fully open its mouth, which is a big problem when it comes to eating foods and pumping fresh water to the gills.

Scientists have long known that corals can produce hydrogen peroxide but have previously thought that H2O2 was a byproduct of the symbiotic relationship between the photosynthetic zooxanthallae and the coral host. 

Four seasons

Many of you may notice the seasons seem backwards (i.e. vegetation in Winter and Spring, bare branches in Summer).  That’s because the aquascaper, Federic Fuss, is Brazilian; the seasons in the Southern Hemisphere are reversed.

Five new, radiant, freshwater crabs

The five new species are described in Zootaxa. These crabs are semi-aquatic crabs, much like fiddler crabs who spend a part of their lives out of the water. All photos by Tejas Thackeray.
