  • Based out of Fort Worth, Texas, I've been a hobbyist for more than 13 years. I enjoy helping others via my two websites melevsreef.com & reefaddicts.com. These feature articles, pictures, podcasts, interviews and product reviews, as well as documentation of personal experience maintaining tanks ranging from 3g to 400g. I make a living selling RO/DI systems and acrylic wares (sumps, frag tanks, overflows, photoboxes), which permits me to enjoy the hobby more.

I'm a member of DFWMAS and have served on the board of directors for seven years, doing what I can to encourage growth while keeping it fun. My articles have appeared in print & online, and I'm happy to be blogging on Reefs.com as well.

Reef Diary #100: Let’s recap what was accomplished

For the 100th entry (and the first time re-posting on reefs.com), I decided to see how many times I did what during this series. I’m sure a few things were left off (like “I fed the fish frozen food 99 times”) but it was still interesting to add it all up.…

Long overdue

Long overdue

It’s been a long time since I’ve posted on Reef Addicts (RA), mainly because my focus has been on Melev’s Reef. Still, RA is dear to my heart due to all the information that has been stored here over the years, documenting my 400g build and all the discussions we had when blogging wasn’t even cool yet.…

reef tank melevIf you follow my youtube channel, you’ve probably heard how I have to get my arms wet and really cull the 400g reef because the growth at the top is shadowing everything beneath, and those things beneath have little chance of living.…
