Byculla Zoo to build aquarium with 360 degree clear underwater tunnel

Rendition of the planned “3D” tunnel aquarium at Byculla Zoo.

The 20 meter long clear tunnel will be surrounded by 2.4 million liters of water.  The tunnel will “float” somewhere in between the surface and the bottom of the exhibit, which is 8 meters deep, giving aquarium patrons an unique 360 degree immersive experience.

Byculla Zoo plans to add Humboldt penguins and is in talks with Washington’s Woodland Zoo to add a manatee (AKA sea cow) to the exhibit.
