Deep-water cephalopods are the cutest things ever

What the?! This creature is real.

The exploration vessel E/V Nautilus recorded footage of this awesome cuttlefish at the crushing depths of 900 meters (~3000 feet) off the coast of California. This coastline is known for many incredible deep-sea denizens cutie-pies including the famous flapjack octopus (this critter is a must-see).

According to the Nautilus team, “[Rossia pacifica] spends life on the seafloor, activating a sticky mucus jacket and burrowing into the sediment to camouflage, leaving their eyes poking out to spot prey like shrimp and small fish.”  And what big eyes they have!
