WAMAS Winter 2016 Meeting (RESCHEDULED)

Speaker: Tullio Dell Aquila will speak to us on the Science of Light.
Tullio Dell Aquila has been a professional lighting designer for well over a decade. World renowned for his pioneering work with high power LED’s his innovative lighting designs span numerous commercial, automotive and aquarium applications. During his career Tullio Dell Aquila has designed lighting products for many of the top companies in our industry. His dedication and innovation has helped pave the way for aquarium lighting as we know it today.

Topic Description:
The speaker will conduct an open forum scientific discussion that will cover many of the myths surrounding aquarium lighting such as Watts, Kelvin, PAR, PUR and so forth. The information presented will include graphs, diagrams and a simple formula that attendee’s will be able to use to evaluate their own lighting systems. There will also be a live demonstration to demonstrate/debunk PAR meters and to demonstrate an actual lab grade spectrometer in use. The talk will also include a section focused on the photometric aspect of light, and the efficacy or efficiency of technologies like LED, T5HO and metal halide systems.

This is also our annual meeting. The offices of President, Treasurer and Membership Director will be filled at this meeting (two year terms).
