The Conde’s Fairy Wrasse originates from the shallow rubble flats of Melanesia. This peaceful wrasse is red along the back with a white belly. The dorsal fin of the male is black, and the fins are outlined in blue. Unlike other wrasses, the males during courtship only raise the front 2/3rds of their dorsal fins. Colors may vary depending on the fish’s mood. The Conde’s Fairy Wrasse is a very peaceful, active fish that will bring both color and activity to a fish-only or reef aquarium of 55 gallons or larger. They will not bother any corals or invertebrates making them a perfect fish for the reef aquarium. A single male can be kept with a group of females that is introduced prior to or at the same time as the male. These wrasses like to jump, so a tight fitting canopy is recommended. The Conde’s Fairy Wrasse diet should include vitamin enriched frozen mysis shrimp, vitamin enriched frozen brine shrimp, and other meaty foods along with a high quality marine flake and marine pellet food.
