Lieutenant Tangs are aggressive towards other tangs, but not towards other species. They require a large aquarium with sufficient liverock to hide behind and around, and should be fed at least 3 times a week. They will pick hair algae off of rocks, but may pick at large polyp stony corals if underfed. Supply nori seaweed to help keep it healthy and stay resistant to diseases. This species looks rather drab as a juvenile, but gains lovely coloration as it matures.
