Lets talk about papaya clove polyps

Been really interested in these guys lately.

I was wondering what are the light requirements?
are they similar to xenia, just cooler colors?
Do they grow fast?
Do they become a nuisance?
do they sting?
any other out of the ordinary requirements?

If I have PC lighting, will the colors fade?

Sorry they may be dumb questions, but i was looking for something to "spice" things up a it.

+ i got seahorses, so i can have much anyway.

not really similar to xenia besides being a softie and the polyp structure looks similar.
xenia grows a thick stalk with a bunch of polyps, cloves just grows polyps and grow slower then xenia.
haven't become a nuisance to me since they grow slower then xenia... yet
they don't sting, neither does xenia, but xenia can sometimes grow on top of other corals and kill them that way, especially since they grow so fast.
the papaya's don't like a lot of flow, but they do like light

How big do they get?
Will PC lights suffice?
Do they pulse or sway?
Will these overgrow any other coral, or not likely?

Thats about it, pretty much all you need to know about em folks.

Now, who has em and wants to sell em to me. maybe at the swap. ( later)

I should have weighed in on this, just noticed the thread. They grow by sending out root like structures then sprouting polyps from these. They do not pulse, love high nutrient water, can get long stalks and about 1/2 inch polyps varying on light, current etc. Clauveria family

I have a small colony of this coral. It has to be one of the slowest growing corals I have. They always seem to be happy and open, but on a frag of 10 polyps, I get 3 more heads every 3 month or so. Mine did not seem to like water flow at all, the heads close when water current hits. It is very beautiful and one of my favorites.

I paid $15 for 1 polyp at macna. Now I have 4 polyps..

Slow growing? I had other clove polyps that grew like weeds.

Is the slow growing characteristic specific to the papaya variant?
