Pan world pump **help!!**

Had to get a new pan world nh-ps150. Plugged it in and... No pumping!! It is primed for sure. Making the same whirling hum that the last pump made, nut no pumping. It even sounds like water is whooshing around in the pump.
This is my parents tank and was hoping to take care of this tonight. Help please.

I read something about closing a valve and then slowly letting the water flow... Not sure what that means... Tried with and without that.

Make sure all valves feeding the pump and returning back to the aquarium are completely open. Then try sucking in from one of the nozzles and covering the others. This will possibly get the air out of the pump and water completely in. Be careful and try not drink any saltwater, lol.
