  1. Royal Gramma eggs

There is a fair amount of algae growing in the area where the eggs are. I've been working on gettting my algae under control, so I cropped the green stuff out of these pictures. I guess it was ready made for the eggs. Prior to my taking out the prototype inlet pipe for my new closed...
  2. Royal Gramma eggs

Here's some pictures of the egg mass and the royal gramma doing some fanning and other tending processes. It'd sure be nice to have this spawning result in some thriving juveniles. Any chance? _________________ Mercedes Benz SL Class
  3. Royal Gramma eggs

Lo and behold! I took out the inactive inlet pipe for my closed loop system and found a clutch of eggs being tended by one of my three royal grammas. Any chance that any of the young would survive if I moved the egg mass to my refugium? I'm ready to put my redesigned cls in and these eggs...
  4. Advanced Aquarist article

Righty, Great points about the DSB taking up space we might rather give to other more attractive specimens. Exactly what happened? What's the thinking about why disturbing the sand bed resulted in diaster? One of my original premises about having a DSB was that it was more like the real...

Why do you think that is Len? What do you see as the up and coming preference? I changed over to a DSB a couple of years ago and am now wondering if I did the right thing. Hal _________________ Religion Forum
  7. Recirculating Venturi Mod for Maxijet

Cement What kind? The last time I glued to a MJ powerhead I was in the middle of a MACO acrylic project and used Weldon 40. But that'd sure be a hassle to mix up for this little application. _________________ history of recession
  8. Toxicity and PVC cement?

I see the cure time on my cement is about 2 hours. So I think you're saying that it should actually be good to go after that time, right? VOC - I guess that's why they say to make sure you do it in awerll ventilated area. My wife hates it when I glue inside the house. and...no leaks so...

What are you using to glue the rigid tube into the MJ for the recirculation loop? Hal _________________ Danish Forum
  10. Toxicity and PVC cement?

In varous threads I've seen folks reference the "nasty stuff" in pvc cement. What's the general consensus on this? Is it important to somehow flush freshly glued piping out before using? In the past, I've given no consideration to this. I just glued up pipe and immediately plugged it into...

Matt, Where'd you get a needle wheel for the MJ? _________________ Mercedes Fintail
  12. Cutting the hole for a bulkhead in a glass tank.

I've been dying to try this but haven't gotten around to it yet. Looks interesting to me. http://www.reefs.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=39570&highlight= _________________ Mercedes Benz SL Class
  13. Recirculating Venturi Mod for Maxijet

Very cool Matt! I've been trying to figure out exactly the same thing. My Rio 800 is a piece of junk and I love the MJs. What model MJ are you using and how are you hooking up the recirculation tube? I didn't know there was one. Where'd you get it? FWIW but unrelated to your exact...
  14. Got Bulkhead tips?

Nice technique! Thanks. Yeh, in one case, the whole flange was totally separated from the threads. The only thing apparently holding it on was the fitting I had threaded into the bulkhead. The second one, was only attached about a 1/4 of the way around the the pipe. Amazing! I don't know...

Thanks Seven. That makes me feel more comfortable. I got a super size skimmer, the MACO Brian Ferguson beckett one. It's a monster. Thanks again and Take care, Hal _________________ Mercedes Vito
