need some help

I am very new to this hobby, i just got a 20 gallon tank setup, the water level in the tank raise up very high then drops back into the sump very quickly, the bulk head makes alot of noise like it's sucking in air instead of water. Can someone tell me what is going on please

do you have an overflow box or the tank is drilled? do you have a check valve on the return end?

Post a pic of your set up, the drain and return pump.

Do you have a durso on the drain? How big is the drain? What is your return pump?
