R/O Connected to hot water valve?

Is this ok or should it only be connected to cold because of the deposits in hot water pipes?

Only the cold, you'll melt the carbon if you use hot water.

I have the faucet connector and once my finance turned it back on with hot water and the plasic at the connection expanded and flew off and water all over the bathroom.
