I have a question: I have trouble controlling the downward shift of pH from night to say. (day 1 8.20, next day 7.8, third day 7.6) without addition of B-Ionic to stabilize.

I went ahead and bought B-Ionic's Mg. Will this help and how do I dose? I have a test kit, but not sure how accurate it is.

Also have a refugium, but still get mexicana growth and some algae..any suggestions???

you need a good Mg test kit (I use a salerfit works well and easy to use)
your alk should be 8-10 dkh
Ca 380-400 PPM and your Mg should be 1380-1400PPM

all that said your PH should be stable provided you have good air water exchange. photosynthesis during the day helps keeps your PH up

what are using to measure PH?
meter test kit?

sstale air in and around your tank will also cause PH to drop
an overstocked tank will cause PH problems also

as far as dosing you should be dosing Mg if your dosing 2 part

what is your photo period for the refugium? mine runs 24/7
