yup ... ecvernon is right. Low magnesium = Low Calcium. Just like the human body, physiologically speaking, you would need to correct the magnesium levels before you correct the calcium. If the magnesium is low, no matter how much calcium you dose, it should still be low. Therefore, both magnesium and calcium should both be in check.

... along with good lighting, alk levels, some gazers, and patience ... wha-la ... coralline algae!!

1) Low phosphates and nitrates that give growth to aggressive competetive green algae.

2) High calcium in correct balance with alkalinity, usually the result of 2 part systems, cal reators, or vigorous water changes with constant new salt adding these naturally.

3) Strong lighting, MH the best but have seen t5, vho, and PC get good results.

4) Some time
