skimmerman, sharkbait, thanks for the info. i would love to read those books but it might have to wait till after christmas. they are pricey reads, but i will check them out down the road.

lol, you welcome. yeah they are not cheap. Thank god for my parents, they paid for those books.
I know i have them someplace around here:irked:. Probably packed up with my wifes text books.:irked:
i should pull them out and put them with the rest of my reef books.

Ok some important things to remember in this thread:

1. Shift keys work and allow you to capitalize words at the beginning of a sentence.

2. Proper names should also have the first letter capitalized.

3. The following symbols need to be used to show where sentences end and where to pause while reading aforementioned sentence:

On reefs, however, the DOC (and TOC) value is considerably higher. Even with this point noted, the values of DOC on reefs from the South Pacific to Japan to the Caribbean to the Red Sea are remarkably consistent in their range: 0.7 - 1.6 ppm"

"Bacteria are a critical component in the food web of the reef, as they occupy the role of 'middle man' in the transfer of energy from the source (sunlight) to the consumers on the reef"

"sponges are some of the most prolific repositories of marine bacteria. In fact, some sponges have been studied as effective bioremediation agents in marine aquaculture as a consequence of their exceptional ability to absorb TOC"

skimmers remove more good than bad
that's rediculous. are you saying that that thick, black, nasty smelling, foul skimmate is essential nutrients?
hardly.

btw, turf scrubbers were big 15 years ago, and were replaced with the far more efficient refugium.

...and it seems everyone on this forum has zero nitrates. i think that's also rediculous.
