Do they look like little white flees crawling all over the glass?

If so, I have them too... My tank is almost 4months old and I'm just starting to see them now.
I believe mine are Copepods and they are a good thing to have (so I've read). However, with the naked eye, I wouldn't describe mine as looking like Shrimp. So, maybe you have something different??

Amphipods and Copepods are both the sign of a healthy tank. Consider it a good omen. :)

+1 - You're headed in the right direction! They are beneficial members of your tank's clean-up-crew. They'll eat leftover food, waste and algae. The population will even out in time as food supplies steady and the fish start to take care of them.
