pH too high

yeah it's at 8.4 but my corals aren't open that much...i just made a water change yesterday too and i really dont want to that again...any ideas?

PH at 8.4 isnt high enough to cause problems infact its just fine 8.2-8.4 is good anything lower is kinda low and anything higher is alittle high

actually baking soda can do both, raise or lower your pH depending on what your pH is currently at because of it's bufferng property. But it will mess up your alk thro

I really need someone who has had serious experience just come over and look at my tank to tell me whats wrong, one week it's fine the next it's not. It's so stressful for how much money, time and effort I put into it and having to go to school full time is just making it hard to keep up with things and I really don't want to get rid of it...

True,I get 8.0 and that's it.Coral are fine.

found out the issue is high nitrate...the test says it's at 40ppm!! Any way I can get it down? I dont understand how it could be so high after doing a water change two days ago although the tank looked better before I did it, maybe an issue with the water I used? Help? someone?

You could do a RDSB, maybe get some mangroves, maybe stop feeding so much, maybe get rid of the rotting livestock in your tank. Lots of stuff you could do to get nitrates down. Heck you could even let hair algae grow like wildfire in select areas of the tank.
