Aqua Ready
Aperture Pet & Life is launching a value brand they are calling “Aqua Ready“. It consists of select Aquamaxx products and other products they deem will fit into this category. Some of the items displayed at the Global Pet Expo were a Reverse Osmosis system, Skimmers, Hang on Back Refugium, and All In One Filter systems. They have three tiers of solutions in their product portfolio for hobbyists with various price points. AquaIllumination (mid-tier) and Ecotech Marine and Neptune Systems (premium) are the other existing tier brands.
HelloReef
HelloReef ClownFish & Anemone Aquarium Kit is an introductory 15 gallon “All in One” aquarium kit for new hobbyists. It is marketed as a system designed specifically for clownfish and anemones and includes everything you need to set it up and even includes a coupon for livestock. The key focus was “ease of use” with minimum hardware and just water changes to maintain water parameters and nutrient levels. Buyers register to an online video course to understand each phase of the journey, which includes a support forum to answer questions outside the learning series. When the educational series is completed, the hobbyist earns a gift card towards livestock.
FeatherSnap
A surprising non-aquatic related display sharing the Aperture booth was FeatherSnap. FeatherSnap’s parent company Deer Management Systems LLC makes trail cameras. Building on that application experience, they have introduced a new variant product to join others in this segment. Basically this is a machine washable bird feeder with a removable wireless camera. This camera is accessible via their smartphone app and is solar rechargeable when docked or via a USB-C cable when removed.
I am looking forward to this when it is released this year for the image resolution and build quality; I am primarily going to use this as an incognito security camera in my yard to have another view of my house.
