The Sprung Elegance Coral from Biota Aquariums

This video is a unique one. First, we are of course happy to report about newly aqua-cultured releases from a reputable company like Biota, but there is a story behind this video and I’d like to tell it.

Years ago when Julian Sprung first wrote his The Reef Aquarium Book Volume 1, he had put a picture of elegance coral that he found while diving in the waters of Palau. He was so fascinated with that particular coral, whenever Manu (COO of Biota Group) and he got together, he would request him to find it for him. After years of searching, Manu has finally found the elegance coral that Julian was looking for. This week when Manu came to visit the Fort Lauderdale facility for regular check ups, he made a personal delivery to the Godfather of our hobby and you can see the excitement in Julian’s face and voice! As his friend, I am very excited for him that he has gotten it after so many years and I am glad to hear that Biota has decided to name that specific type as the Sprung Elegance Coral.  Take a look at this short video that explains the whole story and random, unexpected outtakes  (We found Julian making salt) and feel his excitement as he finally got his hands on the coral that he has been looking for. It took me aback, and reminded me that reef celebrities Julian is just like us: passionate and excited about corals.

Hope you like the video, and happy reefing!
