Two lovely new tetra species described

Hyphessobrycon delimai

Both new tetras are translucent reddish in overall pigmentation (much like flame tetras [H.flammeus] and serpae tetras [H.eques]) highlighted with rich red pigmentation lining most of their fins. Hyphessobrycon delimai is the prettier of the two new species because it has more striking features. What sets H.delimai apart are its clearly demarcated black spot on its tail (caudal peduncle) and its black vertical strip that runs through its eyes.

The two tetra species are described in The Journal of Fish Biology.
