New video from Brian Greene (warning- NSFW language!)

Here is the latest video from Brian D. Greene, which showcases the highlights of his recent dive to the twilight zone of the reefs of Pohnpei, FSM. On the expedition, a collaboration between the Bishop Museum, the Association for Marine Exploration, and the California Academy of Sciences, Brian discovered and collected around 30 fish between 300 and 480 feet (90-145 m) below the surface, half a dozen of which are species new to science. Dr. Richard Lawrence Pyle and Dr. Sonia Rowley took the underwater footage – the lens on Dr. Pyle’s camera actually cracked during the dive, but he was able to hold it face-down for the 5-hour-long decompression, and saved the camera itself! There is also some beautiful aerial footage, which Dr. Ross Langston captured with his dji Phantom 4 drone.

  • As senior editor here at reefs, I get to work with scientists from all over the world, and have made some wonderful friends in the industry! I also write for the site, and am the office manager at FRESH New London and the mother of two brilliant, talented young women.
