Are you looking for a new job in the new year? I’ve found a couple places that are looking for some fishy assistance – check them out and see if they might be a good fit for you… or maybe someone you know!

Plant a Million Corals is looking for a land-based coral restoration technician. This is an exciting opportunity to join a team dedicated to restoring coral reefs through a land-based coral nursery. As a Coral Restoration Technician, you will play a vital role in the hands-on work of growing healthy corals and aiding in the recovery of our vital marine ecosystems.
The organization is based in Summerland Key, Florida whose mission is “to turn the tide of our oceans by saving our coral reefs”. Founded by Dr. David E Vaughan in 2019, PAMCF is focused on active restoration and the transfer of coral restoration technology. Using micro-fragmentation, a technique discovered by Dr. Vaughan where corals are cut using a specialized saw to increase growth 25-40 times faster than usual, PAMCF aims to demonstrate that large scale coral restoration is not only achievable, but can be done in a cost-efficient manner, making it accessible to organizations and communities of all resource levels.

Coral Vita is looking for two positions:
The Assistant General Manager is responsible for ensuring that Coral Vita’s Freeport Coral Farm operates as a well-organized, efficient and disciplined facility. This position is ideal for an operations or logistics professional who thrives on structure, teamwork and achieving measurable results. The AGM will support the Farm Manager by overseeing day-to-day activities, coordinating personnel and resources, maintaining operational systems and ensuring key performance metrics are met. Coral or Aquaculture experience is not required.

The Coral Technician will be responsible for the maintenance, cleaning and care of coral species in a controlled land-based coral farm environment. They will perform routine cleaning tasks on a variety of coral species, ensure that equipment is cleaned and stored appropriately, assist with fabrication, and any other duties as deemed necessary by the farm leadership group.

And finally, The Coral Reef and Rainforest Conservation Project is looking for several positions, including a  Marine Research Officer. The MRO will be fully integrated in the scientific department of CRCP and report to the conservation manager. As such, the most important portion of its time and mission will be focused on research field work (such as coral reef biophysical monitoring, Marine Protected Area’s effectiveness assessment, Seagrass and Mangroves mapping, etc) followed by periods of data analysis, report writing and scientific communications.
