T-8 and T-5 LED Tubes
Advanced Aquarist first blogged about Orphek’s T-8 LED tubes on May 22. These are direct replacements for T-8 fluorescents, and can also retrofit into existing T-5 fixtures with the adapter (included with each tube). The tubes are powered by the fluorescent fixture, although minor retrofitting will be required as the fluorescent ballast needs to be removed. Instructions are included.
The T-5 tubes need to be powered by an included small external ballast and will be available in 24, 36, 48, and 60 inch lengths in daylight and blue/UV-violet options.
The PR-3 (MR-16 type bulb)
Perfect for nanos, picos, and Ikea fixtures, Orphek’s PR-3 is a 3w LED MR-16 (2 pronged) bulb with a Gen2 Power LED™ emitters (2 white and 1 blue diode). The LED is passively cooled with aluminum “fin-core” heat-sinks.
PR-S waterproof, submersible, dimmable LED strips
Available in four color options, the 20” dimmable, fully submersible LED strips are great for a variety of uses. Brighter than the Ecoxotic stunner strips in addition to the above benefits, they are still at the same price point per foot. The PR-S strips include an analog dimmer.
Available color options:
“PR-S”: all white
“PR-S-UV”: White / blue / UV-Violet
“ML-S”: Blue
“ML-S-UV”: Blue / UV-Violet
PR-N7
Using the same body as Orphek’s ML7 PAR-30 bulb (“incandescent” screw-in type), the N7 contains 3 white, 3 blue, and 1 UV/true violet emitter, each diode running a two watts. These are also Gen2 diodes, which Orphek claims emits more PUR:watt than any other emitters.
The N7, like the ML7, is dimmable and available in 110V and 220V. These bulbs are designed as color-enhancing spot-lights.
