It’s been a few years since I’ve shared these images and a few years since I wrote about them, but it was this trip, looking for the Mauritian Clown, that first started me down the underwater photographer... by Admin | Jan 8, 2019 | Conservation
I’ve written before about the wealth of underwater life found beneath the waves around the Farne Islands, off the UK’s northeast coast. One of the main attractions for divers there (as well as an awful lot of tourists) is the seal... by Tidal Gardens | Jan 8, 2019 | Tanks, Video
Every now and again I like to take a field trip to other people’s aquariums, especially some of the local hobbyists that purchased corals from us. Will has two aquariums, a 75-gallon mixed reef and a 275-gallon SPS dominated tank both running some variation of Aquaforest. Let’s take a look. #tidalgardens #coral #reeftank #reefaquarium Music: Tracks: “Peace of Mind” Artist: Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com) License Terms: Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 3.0 http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/ Video: Camera Gear List on Amazon Canon C200 Canon EF 100mm f/2.8L IS macro Canon EF MP-E 65mm f/2.8 macro Sigma Art 18-35mm f/1.8 Free Fly Movi Pro Stabilizer Kessler Crane Motorized Slider Copyright Information: This video was shot and edited by Tidal Gardens. Is there a clear choice out there for us reef keepers when it comes to finding the best camera for a reef tank? Recently, I did some extensive research while in the market for a new camera and I believe the camera I settled on, a Sony A7 iii, is ideal for aquarium hobbyists, especially for video. Granted, it is not a cheap solution but I do think it justifiable to spend decent $$ on camera equipment given how much we tend to invest in corals and tank equipment. Hey, if you have a bitchin’ tank then why not do your best to show it off to the rest of the world? Several years ago I ended up purchasing a Canon 5D Mark iii to take videos by Tidal Gardens | Jan 5, 2019 | Corals, Video
Micromussa are one of the most popular large polyp stony corals ever since some amazing specimens started showing up from Australia about a decade ago. Until recently, this was an Acanthastrea lordhowensis. In this video I’ll cover some care tips as far as placement, lighting, feeding, and all that good stuff. #tidalgardens #coral #reeftank #reefaquarium #micromussa #acanthastrea Music: Tracks: “Peace of Mind” Artist: Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com) License Terms: Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 3.0 Video: Camera Gear List on Amazon Canon C200 Canon EF 100mm f/2.8L IS macro Canon EF MP-E 65mm f/2.8 macro Sigma Art 18-35mm f/1.8 Free Fly Movi Pro Stabilizer Kessler Crane Motorized Slider Copyright Information: This video was shot and edited by Tidal Gardens. We’ve all read about how threatened wild coral reefs are, with recent bleaching events on the Great Barrier Reef featuring prominently in many of our news feeds. I’ve witnessed bleached reefs in the South Pacific and Indian Oceans and I can tell you, it ain’t...
