Uronema is a reef aquarium nuisance that can spread if early signs are ignored.
Identification: Rapid tissue erosion, red sores, lethargy, and respiratory stress, especially in stressed fish. It can progress quickly in quarantine or display systems.
Treatment / Management: Move fish to treatment quarantine immediately. Use an evidence-based anti-protozoal protocol and aggressive supportive care. Copper alone is often insufficient.
Prevention: Quarantine all new fish, reduce stress during acclimation, maintain excellent water quality, and prevent cross-contamination between systems.
