Preventing Coral Extinction with the Florida Coral Rescue Center

For the past few years, I have been invited to check out a facility called Florida Coral Rescue Center that has been doing some amazing work rescuing and conserving critically endangered and almost extinct corals from Florida Reef Tract.

A few weeks ago, I was finally able to take advantage of the situation and head up there to get the behind the scenes footage so that you could see what is going on in our oceans and what kinds of interventions these folks are taking to make sure these corals do not go extinct.

What is so unique about this Rescue Center is that along with many other companies, both Seaworld and Disney came together for this project. Usually you don’t see competing theme parks working together like this, and it was really good to see that they dropped all their differences to work towards the same important goal.

Watch Sarah as she gives us a tour of the facility and explains how the hobby grade-equipment has helped preserve these amazing corals. We were able to check out their new facility inside the Seaworld park – it’s going to be open to the public in the near future and I am excited about the exposure and how it will educate people all around the world about coral conservation.

Watch the video and let me know what you think in the comments down below!

WATCHED & ENJOYED YOUR FINE PRESENTATION. MY DECEASED HUSBAND WAS SYMBIODINIUM MICROADRIATICUM FREUDENTHAL NOW ELEVATED TO GENUS FREUDENTHALIDIUM WITH SEVERAL SPECIES. HE’D BE HAPPY TO KNOW HIS ZOOXANTHELLAE ARE HELPING TO KEEP YOUR CORALS THRIVING IN THAT WONDERFUL SETUP. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK. AS ANOTHER MARINE BIOLOGIST MY WISH IS FOR MORE STATIONS IN ACTION SUCH AS YOURS.
