Reef Market – MACNA Men Edition

MACNA 2015 is right around the corner, and what better place to show off your style and love for our oceans? Conference veterans know that the secret to longevity over the speaker- , vendor- , and party-packed weekend is to stay hydrated, well-rested, and, of course, comfortable.

A broken-in pair of shoes and some cotton tee shirts are key, so why not take this chance to pick up some awesome new threads? This cuttlefish tee, designed and hand-silkscreened by Lindsay Behrens in West Hartford, Connecticut, is available at her etsy shop – she has a few cool designs available, including a leafy sea dragon and a lionfish (though I have to say, the cuttlefish is definitely my favorite)

Of course, the highlight of the weekend will be the banquet Saturday night, with delicious food, Richard Ross as the emcee, and Dr. Bruce Carlson as the keynote speaker; his talk,Some Adventures, Discoveries, and Mishaps in the Career of an Aquarist, is going to be fascinating – I can’t wait!  Its also a fun opportunity to get a little dressed up, and khakis, a button-down, and a unique tie will take you all the way from appetizers to the after (after) party. This kracken tie is designed by mydogcharlie, and manufactured by Zazzle Design in San Jose, California.  I dig its simple, striking graphic.

Sometimes, a tie can feel too restricting, and a tee shirt too casual.  If that’s the case, I recommend a polo shirt; this blue number by Nautica, with its eye-catching fish print, is perfect. And the abstract design will work just as well out in the “real world” after MACNA weekend is over!
