Monday Archives: Reefs and Art -If you can’t handle a tank

There are a lot of people who actively follow the reefing community without owning their own tanks, in addition there is always a contingent of hobbyists in between tanks.  I always find it funny how creatively reefers can decorate their homes.  There really is no reason why you can’t enjoy your underwater life and have a “dry” house.  Art, lighting, and other forms of entertainment all play a part in our abodes, so always think outside of the box when decorating.  Here is one particularly good job done by an artist named Matthew Werner.  For some incredibly photos of an entire bookshelf with this motif, click HERE.

I’m sorry, but this is a very distasteful post. Your actually encouraging buying dried seahorses, and dead corals? I guess your not aware that the corals, seashells, and seahorse are left to dry on the beach dying a horrible death? That these seahorses are endangered and likewise die a horrible death? That the export of chambered nautilus shells is banned, since these animals are endangered because of this trade?

I don’t think anyone is suggesting that we all go out and buy dead anything. I have a shelf of corals and shellfish that I have collected from all over the world. I didn’t buy any of it, this was just a nice way of showcasing what you have with lighting and background effects. You totally missed the point of the post.
