Reefs.com Scholarship Program

As part of our continued commitment to foster increased awareness and understanding of the marine environment that supports our hobby, we are inaugurating a competitive academic scholarship of $1500 to one outstanding student who is engaged in meaningful research in the areas of sustainability, conservation, captive breeding or related fields. Open to both Graduate and Undergraduate students, successful candidates must be matriculated in an accredited US program of study. Students from all relevant areas of marine science are encouraged to apply, but preference will be given to those whose projects have the potential to positively influence the development of the marine aquarium hobby. Applicants must provide a summary of their research and interests, a current CV, at least two references, and a statement regarding the potential of their work as it relates to the hobby. Applications will be vetted by Reefs.com staff, and the finalists will then be forwarded to our expert panel of judges for further evaluation. This year’s committee is comprised of Dr. Sanjay Joshi, Dr. Todd Lajeunesse, Dr. Kate Rawlinson, Prof. Todd Gardner, and Dr. Craig Bingman. (see attached Bios). Application Deadline: All applications should be sent to :
