I’m not entirely sure how or why we have yet to post about the new Kessil LED pendants, but hey, better late than never, right? A few months ago, Kessil debuted the follow-up to their immensly popoular A150, the A160we. Where the A150 models had plenty of power and an awesome spectrum, they were a bit lacking in the functionality department. Sure, you could manually dim or brighten the light, but pampered aquarists prefer not to have to touch dials and knobs, opting for something a bit more tech friendly instead. Here’s some good news for you holiday shoppers. The RoboSnail is getting a really generous price cut just in time for the Christmas season. The RoboSnail from AquaGenesis is an automatic cleaner that acts pretty much like a Roomba for your aquarium. Here is a nifty portable frag rack that should make trips to the local frag swaps a whole lot more convenient. Building An Obsession, an acrylic fabricator that has lots of sweet goodies, showed this off a little while back, and it is completely awesome in a number of ways. For one, this frag frack stacks numerous shelves on top of each other, but keeps them separated thanks to the holding post design. The trays can be set at varying distances, allowing for space for taller frags or for numerous trays to be stored closer together. Last year, Pacific Sun debuted the smartest, fanciest dosing pump system on the planet in the Kore 5th, so it only makes sense that they develop accessories that will boost the effectiveness of that system. One of the major drawbacks to automated dosing is the fact that the bottles of chemicals sit in an aquarium stand, untouched and forgotten, allowing the critical components of the solutions to settle on the bottoms of the bottles. While the responsible hobbyist might come by and shake the bottles regularly, let’s face it, not all of us do that step. To answer that conundrum, Pacific Sun has released some teaser info on their Kore 5th Magnet Stirrer, which as its name suggests keeps the solutions at their freshest by keeping them mixed up prior to dosing. If the Magnetic Stirrer is anything like what we see in other applications, then the hobbyist will have to drop a magnetic stir bar into each bottle and place it on the rack to let it do its thing. It has been a while since we have seen a product with this much excitement around it, and we’re happy to say that it is officially available for all to enjoy. Maxspect has been showing off this revolutionary water pump for what seems like forever (it debuted back in May) and even though it was sent out to a limited number of testers months ago, the product will now be able to be put thorough the rigorous testing of the ever demanding aquarist. The Maxspect Gyre will initially launch in the XF150 model priced at $299. This model has a maximum flow rate of 5000gph at 50watts, and is suitable for a wide range of aquariums that span 50-800+ gallons. The Gyre mounts via magnets to either glass or acrylic, with the mounts capable of holding on tanks up to 3/4″ thick. While the XF150 is currently the only model available to purchase, it is by no means the only model that will be made available
